The new movie Valentine’s Day is set to open Valentine’s Day weekend 2010 and has a star studded cast – and more stars continue to be added. Today it was announced that 2 of Grey’s Guys, Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane, will also join.
The plot is said to be similar of ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’ and ‘Love Actually’ where the movie follows intersecting love lives of several people.
Dempsey will play a married obstetrician dating Garner’s character on the sly, with her unaware of his status. Slimey! He’s always the nice guy, and she’s the nice girl, so I don’t know if I like that!
Dane will play a quarterback struggling over the decision of whether to retire. Interestingly, the role of the football player has previously been described as a closeted gay character with whom Bradley Cooper’s character is in love, so we’ll have to see if that plays out or not.
Roberts is an army officer on leave from Iraq on a flight to L.A. Cooper, on the same flight, is a gay man whose lover is supposedly the closeted football player.
Kutcher is an owner of a flower shop who proposes to his girlfriend (Alba), only to realize he is in love with his close friend, played by Garner, who discovers her boyfriend is married. Interesting…..I don’t know if I can picture Ashton with either of those two!
MacLaine plays Roberts’ mother, a happy retiree who reveals to her husband a long-ago affair.
Hathaway is an assistant working at the biggest talent agency in town and dating a mailroom assistant; Biel is a publicist unlucky in love (is there any other kind?) who has no date on Valentine’s Day. I’ll be interested in these storylines – Jessica Biel is so frumpy to me and I have a hard time relating to her. Anne Hathaway gives off that “unlucky in love” feel, so I wonder if she was better suited for Jessica Biel’s character. We’ll see!
Yet to be cast are MacLaine’s husband, the mailroom worker (Hathaway’s bfriend), a talent agent (maybe with Biel?) and a young boy looking to give his crush some flowers (not sure how that’s related).
Sounds like a good chick flick…can’t wait to see it!
